Sectors

One engine, your terms.

The core of maG is the same for everyone. What changes from one sector to the next is the budget template, the funders and the words you use. With the support of the European Union, we are rolling maG out beyond film and TV.

By sector

A budget template for each sector

Film & TV

Fiction, series, documentary, animation, advertising: each genre has its own budget template, whether the CNC's, a streaming platform's or your own. Tax credit, regional spending and funder reporting are tracked line by line. Film & TV

Live performance

Creation, touring, recording: the template holds the split between production costs and running costs. DRAC and regional funding (France), performer fees, authors' rights to pay out; Spaiectacle payroll feeds straight into maG. Live performance

Festivals

One edition per financial year, recurring lines, suppliers to pay quickly: the budget is built per edition and compared with the previous edition. Festivals

Visual arts

Exhibitions, artwork production, co-productions: commitments are tracked piece by piece, from residency to sale. Visual arts

The shared foundation

The foundation is shared by all four sectors

The engine

Capture, budget tracking, pre-accounting, cash, funding and revenue: the same proven foundation, whatever the sector.

Project logic

Every euro carries its project and its budget line: a film, a show, a festival edition or an exhibition.

Compliance

E-invoicing, VAT, audit trail, fiscal years: the same for every VAT-registered organisation.

Publicly funded or commercial

Do you produce publicly funded work, commercial work (advertising, branded content) or both? maG switches its reporting logic accordingly and also tracks your related businesses: distribution, cinemas, holding company.

Day to day

In practice, day to day

Capture from the phone

Expense claims, invoices, card payments and advances arrive from the phone's browser. Automatic reading of receipts, mileage, currency conversion: each item is entered once.

The budget in real time

Committed, evidenced, left to commit, down to the sub-line, for each project and across several financial years.

Accounting entries

Coded expenses become Film or Company entries, exported in your software's format (Sage, Louma, Pennylane, Cegid, ACD) with their analytical axes.

Payments

SEPA transfers are prepared from the expense; signing stays with your bank.

E-invoicing

Receiving through Docoon, an accredited platform, included in your subscription.

Green production

maG identifies the expenses that document the carbon footprint (kilometres, energy, equipment transport) and gathers them for your reports. And maGnet, an open base of eco-responsible good practice, covers all four sectors. Discover maGnet

Frequently asked questions

Is maG suited to a performing arts company, a festival or an art centre?

Yes. The engine is shared and each sector has its own budget template: creation, touring and recording for live performance, budget per edition for festivals, artwork production and exhibition for the visual arts. We fine-tune it with your organisation during setup.

Can we track several activities in the same tool?

Yes: publicly funded and commercial productions, distribution, cinemas, holding company. Each company has its own space, and its projects are tracked across several financial years.

Do our payroll and accounting software stay in place?

Yes. maG receives payroll entries from Studio, AlphA, Movinmotion or Spaiectacle, and exports its entries to Sage, Louma, Pennylane, Cegid or ACD. For a less common format, we build a dedicated converter.
